Overview

 

Emirates is headquartered in Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates. This airport is also its premier transport hub. The premier airline in the Middle East, it provides over two and a half thousand flights each week. Emirates is part of The Emirates Group, which employs over 50,000 staff and is owned by the Dubai Government. Cargo services are also provided.

 

Emirates has gained a reputation for quality service and management and was voted the eight best airline by Skytrax. In 2011, the airline gained a prestigious award, being recognised as the Airline of the Year. This is a testament to its staff and management and due in no small part to its service excellence and consistent profitability.

Flight Routes

 

With over 120 destinations possible on six continents, passengers from South Africa can travel to any of them after a brief stopover in their main hub in Dubai. Locations in South Africa served by Emirates are:

  • Durban                                     King Shaka International Airport

 

Seating

 

Classes available:

  • Long-haul economy. Seat features include adjustable headrests, In-Flight-Entertainment system and facilities for laptop users are available on all aircraft.
  •  Long-haul business. Seats have a massage function, movable headrest, conventient power outlets and even USB connections for laptops. 17-inch flat-panel monitors provide in-flight enteertainment.
  • Long-haul first. There are two options: the full suite (with minibar, coat rack etc.) and the regular first class includes lie-flat seating
